Since Australia has opened its borders to fully-vaccinated international travelers, now is the perfect time to remind you about their seasons:

Warm summer days are best spent at one of Australia’s gorgeous beaches, but it is stinger season on the Great Barrier Reef, meaning snorkelers and divers should wear full-body wetsuits. In the outback, daytime temperatures will be sizzling. However, Darwin, Broome, Cairns and the Whitsundays in the tropical north are in the middle of wet season (November to April). Head to the southern parts of Australia to find the best weather.

Enjoy cooler temperatures and stunning orange, red, and yellow foliage in Victoria’s High Country, the Grampians and in Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. March and April can be wet and stormy in the tropical north. Many of the biggest festivals take place in Australia’s major cities in autumn. Baby turtles hatch in the Southern Great Barrier Reef and head for the open sea. For a fun and sun feel, visit the Gold Coast, Byron Bay or the Sunshine Coast.

May is the beginning of the dry season (May-October). Visiting at the end of wet season/beginning of dry season, everything will be lush and in bloom. Dry season features lower temperatures, sunny days, and a stinger-free Great Barrier Reef.

The snow-capped Australian Alps are perfect for all sorts of winter sports and après enthusiasts.  Darwin, the Top End and the Kimberley feature balmy days and cooler evenings, ideal for exploring. Cairns and the Whitsundays’ warm days, low humidity and excellent water temperature are perfect for discovering the Great Barrier Reef. Don’t forget it’s whale watching season, too, so jump on a boat to see magnificent humpbacks migrating north.

Spring’s sunny days and cool nights inspire the jacarandas and wildflowers to bloom, creating a dazzling display of color in many parts of Australia, such as Canberra, Sydney and around Perth. Be awed by koala and kangaroo joeys venturing out of their mothers’ pouches at the Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast. Delight in the cooler daytime temperatures in the outback and the final two months (September and October) of the Northern Territory’s dry season.
